Tall Tales: Comedy Special Taping with Katie-Ellen Humphries

Be part of the live recording of the second full-length comedy album and FIRST taped comedy special by comedian Katie-Ellen Humphries.

Named “Best Comedian” in the Georgia Straight’s Best of Vancouver 2024, and “Canada’s Katherine Hepburn in Adidas” by 800 Pound Gorilla, the record label that produced their hit debut comedy album Ladyfinger, Katie-Ellen Humphries is an act you don’t want to miss.

Katie-Ellen’s artful delivery, surprising imagination and unique sensibility (that falls somewhere between the library and the locker-room) has made them a favourite of audiences across Canada and the U.S., including regular appearances on CBC Radio’s The Debaters where they have worked as a writer and Associate Producer.

This event will showcase Katie-Ellen’s evolution as a comedian as she records her latest expertly polished material.

Based in Victoria, Henok consistently wins over crowds and fellow comics alike with his unique perspective, bold honesty and knockout delivery. A regular at clubs throughout Western Canada, Henok has also appeared at major festivals like Rifflandia and JFL Vancouver.

Henok elevates any show he's on and we're so excited to have him as part of this special event.

HOST: Em Cooper
Em Cooper has been making audiences laugh since in bars barns and blanketforts since 2007. Their comedy activism started when they joined the Shit Harper Did team and picked up momentum when they hosted the critically acclaimed comedy show by survivors, Rape is Real & Everywhere. They have been featured on YVR Funny and have appeared on OutTV, The Smash Comedy Festival and opened for Daily Show correspondent and Borat 2 writer Jena Friedman.

Currently, Em produces and hosts a monthly comedy gameshow called The Am I the Asshole Game, and works with Warm Notice, a creative studio releasing comedy shorts to engage young people in climate action.
